14. Februar 2019

Shocking, controversial, compelling – the story of We Children from Bahnhof Zoo has been the subject of discussions since it was first published in 1978. Today, Amazon and Constantin Television announce that the autobiographical opus will be adapted as a new German Prime Original: We Children from Bahnhof Zoo

We Children from Bahnhof Zoo
tells the true story of Christiane F. and her dysfunctional friends, who aged 12-16 descend into the gritty drug scene of 1970’s West-Berlin. Christiane is a lonely and aimless 12-year-old girl. Soon, addiction takes over and she turns to prostitution to support her habit. The series We Children from Bahnhof Zoo is a modern re-telling of a shocking but compelling story. Nowadays, the story is still widely known throughout Germany with the book and movie now studied in German, but also other European schools.

Producers of the Prime Original are Oliver Berben (The Verdict, Shades of Guilt I + II, The Typist, Perfume, Shadowhunters) and Sophie von Uslar (NSU – German History X, Tannbach – Line of Separation). The series is adapted by head writer Annette Hess (Weissensee, Ku’damm 56/59) and directed by Philipp Kadelbach (Perfume, SS-GB, Generation War). We Children from Bahnhof Zoo is a production of Constantin Television in cooperation with Amazon Studios.

We Children from Bahnhof Zoo is an important literary opus and still moves many people today, not only in Germany but throughout Europe,” says Georgia Brown, Director European Prime Originals, Prime Video. “The series follows the story of the book and takes a modern look at the events. We are convinced that the backgrounds are as relevant as ever and will captivate our Prime members.”

“Released in 35 countries and translated in 21 languages, the story of We Children from Bahnhof Zoo tells us of six kids fighting for an impetuous, uncompromising attitude towards life. They are no victims. They are strong, young, courageous and captivating,“ says Oliver Berben, producer and Member of the Executive Board at Constantin Film. “Together with fantastic head writer Annette Hess, her team and the incredible director Philipp Kadelbach we are ready to look at an intoxicating paradise without limitations - in which one can also perish. With Prime Video we found the perfect partner for this incredible journey.”
